Do It Yourself Website Development
Normally the only time that a non website coder has this option is when they are considering using Frontpage or MS Publisher to create their own website. Although we make Frontpage software available for Frontpage fans, we personally do not advocate the use of it. We strongly discourage the use of MS Publisher, though our servers obviously accept it.
This is why, for people who do not want to learn coding, we have provided three excellent features to assist you in your independent development.
Feature 1 - Inbuilt WYSIWYG
An exceptional wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) site editor. For those with some knowledge and experience it offers a user-friendly solution with a simple interface. This is a good solution for a semi-skilled designer who has a set design in mind and wants to create and manage their own website from scratch.
It also gives you the option to edit using proper coding, OR via the wysiwyg interface and comes with a built in ftp facility.
This means that it is a useful tool for editing on the fly, from absolutely any online PC.
The two options are also not exclusive, which means that you are free to move from one interface to the other and back again.
This also makes it a great feature for a beginner with limited coding experience to learn website coding as-you-go, with the safety net of an "undo" button if you make a mistake.
The wysiwyg editor is pre-installed as a free service to all our hosting clients, allowing you to maintain and make changes to your own website if you choose to do so.
Downside: Needs a good connection and some people find it a bit clumsy to access and use.

Feature 2 - Pre-Created Website Templates
For someone who does not have the time or inclination to design their own site, but wants to do it themselves, we offer template websites that are pre-designed for you, with a very professional look and feel. This is the quickest and easiest of all DIY options for non-programmers. All you need to do is choose your template, we install it for you and you add your own text, pictures and links using the programme's exceptionally simple admin area. The user-friendly interface allows you to perform all of these functions with almost more speed and ease than a word processor.
This feature is available free to hosting clients but requires the Silver hosting package to accommodate the additional diskspace and resources required for the software. Hosting is therefore R165 per month.

Feature 3 - Custom Website Templates
If you essentially want to build your own website, but want all the advantages of a professionally created website with a standard layout, we can create an unbreakable, optimised custom template for you. This consists of the development of a single web-page template which you then use to create as many pages as you wish. This method requires a small learning curve for the creation of new pages, but is the most effective way to build your own site and much cheaper than having a complete website built for you.
Comes with a full tutorial, including guidelines on how to optimise your additional pages for search engines (learning curve involved).
Total Cost is:
R830 template development, plus the installation of our advanced editor.
R135 per month website hosting package, which includes your monthly licensing fee for the editing software.
