WEBSITE MARKETING
Search Engine Submission
It needs to be clarified that when we speak of search engine submission it is purely because it is a term that is so often used. In fact, it has almost come to mean the same as internet marketing in many people's minds.
Reality is that search engine submission is not the same as internet marketing, nor is it as meaningful as it sounds.
As a standard inclusion in any website that we develop, we do directory submission and search engine inclusion.
In other words, we don't provide a search engine submission service. We provide a search engine listing service. In case that sounds as if we are just being pedantic, let's explain a few key points.
The Danger of Search Engine Submission Submitting a site to a search engine provides no guarantee of being listed. First of all, it still requires the site to be crawled and with all the billions of websites out there, this can still take many months.
If the site does not meet the requirements of the particular search engine or, if it was not submitted correctly, there is a good chance that the submission will get discarded anyway.
Bigger search engines do not enjoy being spammed. Resubmitting over and over and over doe not ensure that you will get listed, but could get you banned.
Have you received the email offering to submit your site to hundreds and thousands of search engines? Would it shock you to know that there are not even a dozen search engines worth looking at?
Many of these "hundreds of search engines" are link farms or "free for all" (ffa) sites.
Many others are pure affiliate sites trying to drive traffic to their own website by posing as a search engine. If a serious search engine sees you linked to any one of these, it can get you banned. They hate them.
Don't be ripped off If someone is offering to submit your site to search engines, they are being deceptive. If they know anything at all about how search engines work then they know that there is no need to submit to search engines (and they can happily take your money and sit back - the engines will find you eventually on their own). They also know that no matter what they charge for the service, it is an overcharge because there is absolutely no value to be had. Given that there are only a handful of search engines that matter, you can do it yourself in no time at all. However, the fact remains that search engine submission is not an effective approach.
Secondly, if someone is offering to submit you to hundreds of search engines, or resubmit you once a month, run as fast as you can. If they actually do do what they have promised, they will be placing your site in serious jeopardy.
Search Engine Success You need to get your website listed in the right places in the shortest possible time.
This is all that matters and it is not achieved via search engine submissions. It is also not effectively done using any automated software. (almost guaranteed to set search engines like Google against you!)
When we speak about getting you listed, we are talking about a proper, focussed, manual process, with measurable end results.
We begin by making sure that your site is "search engine friendly". Next we make sure that you will be found by these engines within a matter of weeks (sometimes days). At the same time we identify the directories that are valid and meaningful for your website and manually submit to them.
Finally, you will see the results of our efforts because you will actually be crawled and listed by every single engine and directory that was targeted. You will see this in your site stats. It's that simple.
Get into "paid submission" search engines without paying a cent An added bonus with the way that we do it is that your site will also be indexed by search engines that normally charge for the privelege - and you will have legitimately achieved it without paying them a cent.
Tangible results that achieve the end objective. Don't pay for any less.
Yet another bonus is that our approach has an ongoing element and you will find even more search engines beginning to list you in months to come.
Do it Yourself If, as a hosting client, you are happy to take some time out and get your own search engine and directory listings, we will be happy to provide you with some key pointers.
Difference between Search Engine Listing and Search Engine Ranking This section would not be complete without covering this vital point.
Being listed on a search engine does not mean that you will be found when people search!
If you are the guy selling mandible cruncher fossils, then this is not true for you. Your product is so utterly unique and niche that you need never worry about competition. For the rest of us, there is often steep competition and a single search can bring up hundreds of thousands of websites - often millions - as a result.
If you are listed with the search engine, you will appear in those results, but unless you are in the first two pages (less is better), there is little chance that your site will be found.
Who comes where in those results is determined by your site ranking and how relevant the search engine believes your website to be.
This is where the crucial element of optimisation and marketing come into it. If you are serious about making your website pay, please read more about marketing a website
Cost of the Web Inn Listing Service This service is automatically included with any website we develop (or redevelop), but is unfortunately no longer offered as an independent service. This is largely because most websites fail at the starting gate - being search engine friendly. This means that we first have to do a full assessment of a website and ensure that the required changes are made, before we can even begin to consider the actual listings. In most cases this ends up being more expensive than a straight redevelopment of the website.
